British tenor saxophonist Alex Hitchcock is one of UK’s leading young saxophonists. In both his own and collaborative projects, the celebrated London-based tenor and composer shows a distinct tone and an ability to bring out the best in new musical encounters. Together with guitarist Ant Law, he released the critically acclaimed Same Moon in the Same World in 2022, an album featuring, among others, bassist Linda May Han Oh.
Alex Hitchcock’s latest album ‘Dream Band: Live in London’ which was released in November 2023, follows the beaten path and consists of a series of recordings with some of Hitchcock’s favorite musicians, in new combinations, and with music specially written for them. An album filled to the brim with surprises, harmonious nuances and bold interplay. Modern jazz has come out of tradition with an eye towards the new.
During March 2024, the acclaimed saxophonist will tour Europe and the UK with the Dream band records along with a round of favorite musicians. The group that lands at Fasching includes Dave Adewumi (Jason Moran, Ingrid Jensen), Lex Korten (Melissa Aldana, Tyshawn Sorey), Orlando Le Fleming (Jeff Tain Watts, Mark Guiliana) and JK Kim (Aaron Parks, Dayna Stephens).
