Inget på din Spotify-spellista låter som Minyo Crusaders! Detta tokyobaserade 10-mannaband har beskrivits som japansk folkmusik för den postmoderna tidsåldern. Och visst, de levererar en osannolik fusion av olika musikaliska uttryck. Här mixas historiska japanska folksånger (min’yō) med nutida klubbmusik, boogie-woogie, latinska och afrikanska influenser som mambo och beguine. På BBC radio har Minyo Crusaders spelats av Iggy Pop, Jamie Cullum och Gilles Peterson. Debutalbumet Eches of Japan (2019) utnämdes till Worldwide FM album of the week.
