Pete Churchill has worked as a composer, pianist, singer and teacher for almost 30 years. As a pianist, Pete spent 15 years accompanying legendary jazz singer Mark Murphy and recently worked with Sheila Jordan. He has been a member of both Kenny Wheeler’s and Abdullah Ibrahim’s Vocal Projects and had the privilege of conducting for Kenny. Wheeler Big Band, culminating in the final album, ‘The Long Waiting’.

After twenty years teaching at the Guildhall, Pete is now Professor of Jazz Composition at the Royal Academy of Music and Director of Jazz Voice at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels. Pete Churchill is also the founder/director of ‘The London Vocal Project’ (LVP) which has seen him work with Sir John Dankworth & Dame Cleo Laine and Bobby McFerrin and recently LVP recorded the critically acclaimed Mirrors CD with Ken Wheeler and Norma Winstone.

This time Pete Churchill is coming to Fasching together with the elite of Swedish jazz: saxophonist John Högman is not completely unknown to the Fasching audience after performances with, among others, Good Morning Blues, Nogenja, Gugge Hedrenius, Nancy Harms and others! In recent years, the jazz musician Martin Sjöstedt has made a big name for himself in international jazz as a unique multi-talent. Many know him as a pianist, others as a bass player, or why not a saxophonist? Not only that, he appears more and more often as an arranger and composer for some of Europe’s best big bands. This evening, however, it is on base that we find him. Drums play Oscar Johansson Werre is a drummer in the younger generation whose timing and treatment of all jazz parameters arouses great admiration from everyone who plays with him such as Hans Backenroth, Magnus Dölerud and others and not least his father Ulf Johansson Werre!
