Fasching takes over Folkoperan this autumn for a grand big band meeting featuring Rebecka Törnqvist, Johan Lindström and Norrbotten Big Band.
An eagerly awaited reunion is on the horizon as Rebecka Törnqvist and Johan Lindström once again join forces with Norrbotten Big Band on stage. The last time they collaborated was in 2012, prompting the local paper Piteå-Tidningen to write: “I want this concert repeated — immediately!” Now they return with new music written together by Törnqvist and Lindström.
Rebecka Törnqvist remains one of Sweden’s most distinctive and respected voices, moving effortlessly between jazz, pop, and deeply personal singer-songwriter music since her breakthrough in the 1990s. Johan Lindström is one of the country’s most sought-after arrangers and musicians, known for his work with artists such as Ane Brun, Freddie Wadling, and Anna Ternheim.
Together with Norrbotten Big Band, they create a sweeping meeting point between big band grandeur, strong melodic writing, and two masterful musical voices.
“They’re a kind of creative duo who have worked closely together for years. Johan’s brilliance has truly elevated and shaped Rebecka’s records over a long period of time,” says the band’s artistic director Joakim Milder.
