Multi-artist and roots musician Lonnie Holley was born in Alabama in 1950 as one of 27 children. The stories about growing up, where he was left early and moved from foster family to foster family, are depicted in a musical universe where free narrative blues, dreamlike electronica and jazz blues are woven together.
Lonnie Holley has released six critically acclaimed albums. On the latest Oh Me Oh My, produced by Jacknife Lee and released in 2023, he collaborates with Bon Iver, Michael Stipe of REM, Moor Mother, Sharon Van Etten and Rokia Koné.
Lonnie Holley has toured extensively in the US, Europe, South America, Australia and New Zealand, sharing the stage with artists such as Bon Iver, Animal Collective, Tinariwen, Daniel Lanois, Fasching familiars Moor Mother and Irreversible Entanglements to name a few.
His artwork is now in the collections of many of the major museums in the United States. Holley’s music and his lyrics are improvised on the spot and transform and evolve with each concert and recording. The sound layers a result of decades of experimentation.
Now this genre-crossing multi-artist and musician is coming to Fasching for the first time. It will be an evening unlike most others.
