Pianist and composer Elise Einarsdotter has held a natural place on both the Swedish and international jazz scene since the 1980s. In 2025 she received the Svensk Jazz Lifetime Achievement Award for a whole life in music – “We have seen her in countless cross-artistic collaborations where she has created unique genre-crossing music that has enriched the scene for decades,” read the citation.
On 6 June she presents a band that is equal parts reunion of old friends and a stage full of Swedish heavyweights: Rigmor Gustafsson on vocals, Jonas Knutsson on saxophones, Max Schultz on guitar, and Olle Steinholtz on double bass. Musicians who each carry a significant artistic legacy and who share decades of playing together with Elise.
“There’s so much to be inspired by,” says Elise Einarsdotter. “The vastness of sky and sea, Aretha Franklin singing the blues, sailing, one’s own smallness, the vibration of a single moment…” It is precisely that curiosity and openness that characterises her music. The tension between the grand and the intimate, between the composed and the improvised.
