Corpo

Corpo have played together since 1992, creating new Scandinavian music with a strong rhythmic vein, suggestive melodies and influences reaching far beyond Scandinavia.

The band is led by soprano saxophonist and composer Mikael Godée, whose melodies have drawn comparisons to Jan Garbarek and the ECM school – though with, as one critic put it, “a more earthly melancholic expression.” In 1999, Corpo toured South Africa to wide acclaim, where Nordic melodicism met African percussion traditions – a combination that’s stayed with the band’s music ever since.
The quintet has released seven albums in thirty years, from their 1994 debut Corpo to the anniversary release The 30th Anniversary Concert (2023).

At Fasching, expect music moving between contemplation and joy, desolation and warmth – five musicians still finding new paths in a sound they’ve spent over three decades building together.
