Tomas Janzon Trio

“One of the best jazz guitar tones you’ll hear,” according to Vintage Guitar magazine. As a young musician, Tomas Janzon decided to move to the US to study music after hearing Charlie Parker’s solo on “Cool Blues”. Since then, he has carved out a place for himself in the birthplace of jazz, releasing a string of albums and performing countless concerts.

His latest album, Jazz Diary, came out in 2026. Here, small musical ideas unfold into larger statements, shaped by melodic clarity and precision. “All Neighbors” lasts just over two minutes, built around a three-note idea. “Spirit Secret” is in 11/8, yet moves with an easy, natural flow. On “Muddy Shoes”, Janzon draws from the blues.

“Tomas Janzon is a stylist rooted in both modern and historical idioms, with plenty of substance and a taste for playing a little outside.”
— Magnus Östnäs, Lira, 2026

At Fasching, he performs as a trio with drummer Chuck McPherson, who has played with Freddie Hubbard and Horace Silver, and bassist Rubem Farias, whom Janzon began working with during a tour of Brazil.
