Sol Sol are the ever-shifting free jazz quartet whose music springs from the pens of Elin Forkelid and David Stackenäs. On their fourth album Oscillations, they draw inspiration from Hilma af Klint, Roberto Bolaño, European cities, indigenous folk songs — and badminton. Stackenäs works within modern jazz and free improvised music and has performed with Evan Parker, Thurston Moore, Jim O’Rourke and Sofia Jernberg. Forkelid has long been one of the leading names on the Scandinavian improv scene. Together with Mauritz and Nils Agnas, they blend humor and genres with just the right level of sprawl and free-spiritedness.
