Bassist and composer Jon Henriksson brings his new band Shapeshifter Quintet to Fasching, a group built around shared dynamics, melodic strength and shifting musical roles.
The music draws inspiration from Pat Metheny, Milton Nascimento and Kurt Rosenwinkel, but carries the spaciousness and subtle intensity often found in Nordic jazz. Compositions unfold gradually, with each musician shaping the form in real time.
The quintet’s debut album is out now on April Records, one of Europe’s leading labels for forward-looking jazz.
