Gunilla Törnfeldt

Gunilla Törnfeldt offers a deeply affecting concert experience where voice, storytelling, and improvisation merge into a musical life journey. With the album Unraveling, she has created her most personal work to date — a powerful passage through grief, rupture, courage, and transformation.

After being released digitally and on CD last autumn, Unraveling now receives its long-awaited vinyl release, celebrated with a concert at Fasching in May. The music unfolds in a dense, dramatic landscape where original compositions meet deeply personal interpretations of songs by artists such as Joni Mitchell and Elton John. The result is intense, vulnerable, and deeply musical — jazz that both unsettles and consoles.

Törnfeldt’s voice has been described as both soft and powerful, with an expression that spans wide registers and carries every lyric with total presence. Joined by some of Sweden’s leading jazz musicians, she presents a concert filled with intensity, surprising improvisations, and a strong collective drive. An evening where music becomes emotion, and emotion becomes transformation.

“A very tightly constructed production, at times almost violent in its emotional impact. […] Both the singing and the music are performed with tremendous power.”
— Lira

“Soft and well-modulated, yet at times powerful and full of temperament. And a voice that spans wide registers. […] The result is confident, refined, deeply musical, and thoroughly professional.”
— Orkesterjournalen
