Folkdivizjon – the high-energy Balkan and klezmer band from Malmö. In recent years they have established themselves as a strong and unique voice on Sweden’s folk and world music scene. They have performed across the country at festivals, clubs and weddings. The band performs both their original music and timeless traditional songs, all in accomplished arrangements that no one can sit still to. Expect everything from beautiful ballads to heavy Balkan grooves – a hot mix of klezmer, Balkan and jazz.
The band released their debut album Yes! Yes! Yes! in 2024 to great reception. Lira writes: “The arrangements are strikingly beautiful and constantly varied, and the playing possibly even better. It teems with gorgeous brass riffs, driving rhythms, fat tuba basslines and brilliant solos.”
This evening Folkdivizjon celebrates the release of their new album A Night At Sailor Bar – a live album recorded at the legendary Bimhuis in Amsterdam during the Amsterdam Klezmer Festival in September 2025. An evening that captured the band at their peak before an enraptured audience, now preserved on record. The music moves deep into the traditions that have shaped the band: Balkan trubaci, tallava and klezmer. Original songs are interwoven with traditional material from these genres, performed with the energy and joy that only a live show can deliver.
Welcome to the release concert for A Night At Sailor Bar! The album is released in August 2026 and will be available to buy on CD on the night. Expect pure musical joy and a Fasching in full motion when Folkdivizjon takes the stage!
