Son Cubano is one of the musical movements that preceded and laid the foundation for salsa – and El Ciclón del Son is one of the bands keeping that tradition alive with care and respect for the original material. Their repertoire moves through Cuba’s musical golden age, with rhythms from the 1930s–50s at its core. Classics associated with Benny Moré, Trío Matamoros and Buena Vista Social Club sit alongside original material cut from the same cloth.
The band features members from groups including Calle Real, La Liga, Habanera and La Tremenda. Trumpet, trombone, tres, double bass, piano, congas, bongos – and dancing on the menu.
