For over a decade, pianist Daniel Karlsson has shaped one of Sweden’s most distinctive jazz trios. Alongside bassist Christian Spering and drummer Fredrik Rundkvist, the trio has received a Swedish Grammy, Jazzkatten, Gyllene Skivan and Jazzkannan, and toured extensively across Sweden and Europe.
The music is melodic and rhythm-driven. With influences from 60s jazz, soul and pop, blended with a Nordic tonal sensibility and subtle electronics, the trio creates a sound that’s both refined and exploratory. In 2023, Karlsson was awarded the Jan Johansson Prize – a recognition of his integrity, sensitivity and sharp artistic vision.
Their latest album Sorry Boss has received widespread international acclaim. At Fasching, they bring brand new material.
