Music on the brink of collapse. Colin Stetson, Stian Westerhus and Erland Dahlen have named their new trio 10¹⁷ after the immense energy (10¹⁷ TeV) theoretically required to create a black hole. High-voltage music that bends around the event horizon, song structures that implode and are reborn.
With his bass saxophone, elaborate microphone setup and circular breathing technique, Colin Stetson is one of the most singular saxophonists of his generation. Here he is joined by Stian Westerhus, who pushes the electric guitar to its outermost limits and sings with a voice that moves between fragility and command. The trio is completed by Erland Dahlen, whose deep sense of space and momentum, and signature sound world of bell-like textures, form the connective tissue of the group.
The trio’s debut tour in 2024 was met with critical acclaim – CRACK Magazine named their performance the most groundbreaking of the night. Now 10¹⁷ arrives with a new album and a night at Fasching. The kind of evening where anything can happen on stage.
