Club Addis

Fasching opens its doors for a new type of club and for new music! Addis – which means new in Amharic – is the name of the club Selam presents in collaboration with Fasching and Brana Entertainment. A home for new dance music from the Horn of Africa. In Sweden today, club and dance music from Africa is bigger than ever on streaming services, at music festivals and in the media, but there is still a lack of obvious places to go out and dance to it.

While afrobeats, kwaito, kuduro and amapiano are today widely played in dancehall, urban and house clubs, dance music from East Africa has been conspicuous by its absence on the dance floors. Until now. Now Stockholmers have an place to hear club music from Addis Ababa and other parts of East Africa. For almost three decades, Selam has arranged concerts from all over the region, but now for the first time will focus on dance. Among the musical styles, several traditions are represented and all possible past Habesh music, but expect the DJ booth to draw the musical map of the future. Club Addis will welcome music lovers one Friday night a month starting March 8. Dress to dance on opening night!
