La Liga Habanera was formed in Havana, Cuba, and is now based in Sweden. Since the beginning, the band has been spreading its modern, soulful take on Cuban timba across Sweden and Europe. Drawing inspiration from Buena Vista Social Club, Los Van Van, Beny Moré, Havana de Primera, and Earth, Wind & Fire, their sound is both deeply rooted and forward-looking.
The Cuban vocalists deliver a powerful, tightly woven choral sound, decorated with expressive lead vocals and driven by the rhythm section’s swinging Afro-Cuban pulse. The horn section defines precision, while piano and bass lock into infectious montunos that lift the dance floor. In 2024, La Liga Habanera released their second album.
