Julian “J3PO” Pollack has one foot in live jazz and fusion — and the other deep in synthesizers and electronic experimentation. He has recorded with artists including Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, and Terence Blanchard, while also working with Nord, Sequential, and Oberheim, programming factory presets for several of their flagship synth models.
Timeout New York has described him as a musician who “deftly balances virtuosity with tenderness.” Pollack is an artist equally at home in intimate piano trio settings and dense jazztronica production. His latest album Soul & Circuitry (Ropeadope, 2025) lands somewhere between the two: analog synths, sample aesthetics, and jazz improvisation. This summer, he releases his new record A Brief Odyssey.
At Fasching, he’s joined by a rhythm section he shares with guitar virtuoso Matteo Mancuso — Riccardo Oliva on bass and Gianluca Pellerito on drums.
