Time flies when you’re having fun… and suddenly it’s been 40 years since Magnus Öström first set foot on Fasching’s stage! That alone calls for celebration – but there’s more: this year, Magnus also turns 60. A double anniversary deserves something special.
This evening, the Magnus Öström Group takes the spotlight alongside invited guests, revisiting music from Magnus’ four solo albums – and perhaps something brand new.
One of the many bands Magnus has played with – “one of the most fun groups I’ve ever been in”, as he once put it – was the short-lived but legendary Jazz Furniture, active in the mid-1990s. Judging by tonight’s lineup, there’s a good chance we’ll hear a tune or two from that rare gem of a repertoire.
And while Magnus’ childhood friend and musical soulmate Esbjörn Svensson is no longer with us, his music certainly is. Will we hear something from the vast e.s.t. catalogue? Come and find out – and join us in celebrating a truly one-of-a-kind drummer.
