Mainland Jazz Collective moves freely between eras. On their fourth album Plays Kille!, they take inspiration from an ancient Swedish card game – filled with medieval animals, flowers and characters – and transform each image into a brand-new jazz composition.
With sharp sextet arrangements and a playful spirit, they breathe new life into the timeless sound of 50s and 60s swing. Clever, vibrant and full of heart, this is jazz that feels both deeply rooted and refreshingly alive – as if tradition itself had fast-forwarded into the future.
