For 22 years, the Baltic Sea Festival has been a platform where classical music meets exploratory dialogue and a vision for the future. This year is no exception, with world-class concerts, inspiring discussions, and a strong sense of community. Organized by Sveriges Radio Berwaldhallen, the festival embraces the theme of “waves” – a symbol of everything from the sea to sound and light, as well as the movement of history and emotions.
At Fasching, we are thrilled to be part of this year’s program and welcome the festival to our stage for an evening where music flows freely across genre boundaries – in true Baltic Sea Festival spirit.
Two giants of Swedish jazz unite on the Fasching stage as part of the Baltic Sea Festival. Vocalist Sofia Jernberg and saxophonist Per “Texas” Johansson each present a set, with guests, filled with cosmic explorations and world-class improvisation.

A vocal artist who challenges everything we think we know about singing. Her musical universe moves effortlessly between jazz, experimental contemporary music, and global folk traditions, seamlessly weaving together sounds from Ethiopia, Scandinavia, and beyond. With a voice that can be both an instrument and a storyteller, she creates sonic landscapes that drift between the ethereal and the raw, the meditative and the explosive.

Act 2 / Per Texas Johansson
A saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist whose distinctive tonal language pushes the boundaries of jazz. His music flows effortlessly between chamber jazz, contemporary composition, and freeform grooves, where unexpected harmonic encounters and masterful ensemble playing create a hypnotic experience. From fragile clarinet whispers to the deep resonance of the bass clarinet and the soaring warmth of the tenor saxophone – all executed with an impeccable sense of detail, rhythmic shifts, and boundless exploration.
