Leo Middea

At 30, Leo Middea is already one of the most prominent names in the new generation of Brazilian MPB artists. Since his debut Dois in 2014, he has released five albums and performed everywhere from sold-out concert halls to intimate balcony shows during the pandemic. Portuguese outlet Watch & Listen compared him to a young Caetano Veloso, and Comunidade Cultura e Arte declared it impossible not to count him among the future greats of MPB.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Middea now splits his time between Lisbon and Barcelona. His music is rooted in the MPB tradition with ears open to jazz, soul and everything he has encountered across more than 300 performances around the world. In 2022, Portugal’s Prime Minister invited him to perform at the official concert commemorating Brazil’s bicentenary.

He arrives with his sixth album Notícias da Puglia, produced by Breno Virícimo and released on LOCO Records and European label Agogo Records. A love letter to Brazil written from afar – sunny, danceable and full of cultural references, with nods to Milton Nascimento and Djavan and sprinkled with memories of Praia Vermelha do Sul.
