Pianist Lars Jansson and guitarist Erik Söderlind have over the years developed an intuitive interplay and a shared melodic language, which has now found expression in Why Does Rain Fall, the new album they present at Fasching. Thirteen joint compositions spanning the full range: from hard-swinging bebop to lyrical romance and melancholic stillness.
Jansson is one of Sweden’s most authoritative jazz pianists with a long international career and numerous acclaimed projects. In 2022 he was awarded the Royal Swedish Academy of Music’s Grand Prize for Jazz. Söderlind has grown into one of his generation’s most celebrated guitarists – now himself a mentor and role model for younger musicians, much as Jansson once was for him.
