This evening, we pay tribute to Monica Zetterlund’s timeless songbook through fresh interpretations by some of Sweden’s most critically acclaimed musicians in jazz and folk music. At the center are jazz vocalist Ellen Andersson and pianist, singer, and composer Anna Gréta, who together have gathered a handpicked band for this unique concert experience. The concert will be broadcast live on Sveriges Radio P2.
Ellen Andersson has been described as having two voices in one – the young and curious, and the older and experienced – with a rare artistic depth. She has established herself as one of Sweden’s foremost jazz singers, known for her distinctive sound and unmistakable expression. In 2024, she released her third album Impressions of Evans, a tribute to Bill Evans and Monica Zetterlund, and has been awarded distinctions such as Gyllene Skivan, Jazzkatten, and the Monica Zetterlund Scholarship.
Anna Gréta has, in a short time, become one of the most exciting names on the Swedish and international jazz scenes. Her music carries traces of jazz, pop, and Nordic folk – an expression reflecting her Icelandic roots. She has received the Monica Zetterlund Prize, Ystad Jazz Piano Award, the Fasching Friends Scholarship, and has won three Icelandic Grammys.
“For us, Monica Zetterlund is one of the greatest and most influential jazz singers from the Nordic region, with her incredible voice and unique expression. She has inspired us so deeply that we’ve both released music dedicated to her. We’re thrilled and honored to interpret her songs with this special ensemble – a group of musicians handpicked for the evening, each a vibrant voice in their own right.”
