In El Rey Shangó Superior Orchestra, young music students join forces with professional Cuban musicians to explore – and celebrate – more than a hundred years of Afro-Cuban musical tradition. Led by percussionist and bandleader Rolando Lara, this large-scale ensemble delivers a vibrant, rhythmic and historical journey from 1895 to today.
The repertoire spans rumba, danzón, mambo, chachachá, son, salsa, timba and Latin jazz, performed with both respect and vitality. Every groove, every horn line, every call-and-response becomes part of a living tradition passed from one generation to the next.
It’s a celebration of Cuban music’s enduring influence on the global scene. And an unforgettable night of rhythm, roots and real-time exchange.
