Saxophonist and composer Lina Langendorf leads her Manifest Prize-winning Stockholm collective through a universe of spiritual jazz, afrobeat, ethio-jazz and psychedelia. Hard to pin down entirely — and impossible not to get swept up in when you hear them live.
The band draws from some of the finest musicians on the Scandinavian jazz scene (Tonbruket, Fire!, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Wildbirds and Peacedrums, Berit in Space and more). Whether lyrical, raw, melancholic or pure euphoria, everything they do breathes swing. Lina herself has been celebrated by legends including Mulatu Astatke and Abegasu Shiota, and SVT Kulturnyheterna summed up the band’s sound: they “bristle with energy and ideas and blow most things out of the water — playful and boundless.”
Their debut album Yeahno Yowouw Land (2023) landed on Songlines Magazine’s top 10 list and earned the band a Manifest Prize. Follow-up Undercover Beast drew acclaim on both sides of Sweden’s borders — including 10/10 from Truth & Lies Music Magazine and 4/5 from Dagens Nyheter.
“The band name sounds like a football club, but even the most drilled starting elevens aren’t as tight as Langendorf United,” wrote Dagens Nyheter after the 2025 release show at Fasching.
*Langendorf United plays at 8 PM — and you can choose to see just them, or stay for the whole night! At 11 PM the evening continues with ethio jazz outfit The Sorcerers.
