Shinken Shobu is an original jazz quintet led by harpist Stina Hellberg Agback. Playfully – yet with utmost seriousness – the group explores the borderlands between composition and improvisation, jazz and contemporary classical music, acoustic and amplified. In her compositions, Stina Hellberg Agback reveals a rare artistic voice, where a contemporary, improvising harpist and composer expresses her love for strings, communication, and subtle dynamics.
“Sou Makuri is not only a wonderfully inspired record played by superb musicians, but also an ode to musical purity, where there are no defined sonic highways to be followed and where music becomes a journey of just instinct and vision, supported by sheer class.”
– Giovanni “Gio” Pilato, Bluebird
Alberto Pinton is a saxophonist, woodwind player, composer and educator with deep roots in jazz and free improvisation. Active since the ’80s, he has released sixteen albums and performed with Nils Landgren, Georg Riedel, Norma Winstone, Joe Lovano, Carla Bley and many others.
This evening features music from his latest release Allt Större Klarhet (Moserobie) – a dynamic and responsive quartet session, where Pinton is joined by three of Sweden’s most compelling jazz voices.
“De fyra herrarna finner varandra i samspelet, som om de aldrig gjort något annat.”
– Timo Kangas, Lira
“While his technique is flawless, the music here is all about the passion and the delivery of emotion.”
– Mark Corroto, All About Jazz
