Skewed P-funk grooves meet psychedelic dissonance. Grande Mahogany’s music evokes Jimi Hendrix, Funkadelic and Sly Stone. His debut album As Grande As (2024) channels 70s funk and psychedelia through fuzzy guitars, afrobeat and a groove that’s just off-kilter enough.
Born in Finland and raised in Manchester, Grande Mahogany wrote and produced almost the entire album himself. He directed music videos, designed outfits and fully embodied the DIY spirit.
The album was praised by Anthony Fantano (The Needle Drop), who ranked it among his top 50 albums of 2024, and received attention from BBC 6, BBC 1 and KCRW. In summer 2024, Grande Mahogany closed Flow Festival’s Balloon Stage to a packed crowd with queues outside.
Don’t miss the chance to see him live in Stockholm before the queues get too long here as well. A psychedelic, funk-filled onslaught with wah-wah-drenched fuzz guitars that growl, grind and swing.
This concert is part of the series Finlands Sak I Vår where we, together with the Finnish Institute, highlight five of the most exciting Finnish names at the outer edges of jazz, psychedelic funk and synthetic pop.
