Few bands move as naturally between folk parks and indie festivals as Darya & Månskensorkestern. For over 20 years, they’ve carried the Finnish tango across Sweden, colouring it with pop, rock, country and folk – and created a musical universe where broken hearts always take centre stage.
Rooted in 1940s Finnish schlager and tango, their sound blends twanging guitars with wistful ballads, accordion with pop hooks, clarinet with quiet ache. Their journey has taken them from nursing homes in northern Finland to concert halls and jazz clubs. Just as at home in a rural community centre as on a festival stage in Helsinki. Along the way, they’ve collaborated with artists like Frida Hyvönen, David Ritschard, Iiris Viljanen, Markus Krunegård and Stefan Sundström.
Now, the orchestra returns to Fasching for their beloved annual January concert. A bittersweet new year’s treat for hearts that beat a little off-centre.
