Danny Grissett plays with a restrained blend of swing, lyricism, and crystalline touch. A sought-after sideman on the New York scene, he now brings his own trio to Fasching.
For fifteen years, Grissett was a cornerstone of trumpeter Tom Harrell’s band, and has toured and recorded alongside Nicholas Payton, Benny Golson, and Lage Lund. His solo career began in 2006 with Promise on Criss Cross Jazz, praised by All About Jazz as “one of the best maiden voyages I have heard in years.”
In 2025 he released Travelogue with drummer Bill Stewart and bassist Vicente Archer – his first trio album in nearly a decade. The chemistry holds: intuitive, close-knit, deeply attuned. Music that rewards close listening.
