Country & Eastern is not your average record label. It’s the international slow food of music – al dente listening for curious ears. From legendary Hindustani and Karnatic masters, to Ghanaian village grooves, Chinese cricket ensembles, Swedish funeral bands and fiercely inventive jazz collectives. This is music that resists borders, genre tags and easy digestion.
Founded 20 years ago by percussionist Bengt Berger, the label has now released 88 genre-defying albums – and to mark the occasion, they’re gathering a huge cast of artists, past and present, for a one-night-only celebration at Fasching.
