Änglaspel has been playing together longer than most of us have been alive. Formed in 1976 and awarded Jazz in Sweden in 1982. Since then, their music has continued to evolve, freely mixing elements of classic jazz, global traditions, and unexpected turns like singalongs and spoken word.
Their signature septet format – trumpet, three saxophones and rhythm section – offers both punch and elasticity. Over the years, Änglaspel has drawn comparisons to the groups of Charles Mingus: music where each voice is given space, yet always within the collective’s shared shape and motion.
For this special Fasching performance, they’re joined by Lena Willemark, singer, violinist and a genre-defying force in Swedish folk and contemporary music.
