Hermeto’s Mothership

Hermeto Pascoal wrote himself into Fasching’s history books at his very first concert, in 1988. When the audience refused to stop dancing after closing time, Hermeto simply led them out onto Kungsgatan in a carnival procession. Between 1988 and 2022, he played Fasching around ten times, creating concert nights that could go anywhere. He also composed a piece for the club – a tribute that today hangs on the wall of our foyer bar.

Hermeto Pascoal passed away in September 2025. Now his closest musicians are coming to Fasching. They call themselves Hermeto’s Mothership, after the nickname he gave them, and will perform a full evening of his music: classics, rarities and recent works in Hermeto’s own arrangements – in his musical language, Música Universal.

Itiberê Zwarg has played with Hermeto since 1977. Fábio Pascoal since the late 1980s. André Marques since 1994. They are joined by Itiberê’s son Ajurinã and the most recent addition Jota P. on saxophones and flutes. A quintet who know o campeão and his music inside out.
