Louisa Lyna & di Yiddishe Kapelye: Cohen in Yiddish

Louisa Lyne & di Yiddishe Kapelye are one of Europe’s foremost bands in modern Yiddish music. Here they present “Cohen in Yiddish” – a programme where Leonard Cohen’s poetry is brought to life in Yiddish. Newly written songs inspired by Cohen’s poems are woven together with some of his most beloved classics.

Since their debut in 2012, Louisa Lyne & di Yiddishe Kapelye have built a musical world where klezmer, folk song, pop and world music converge. Singer Louisa Lyne, raised in Härnösand, is today one of the most prominent interpreters of the Yiddish song tradition in Europe. In 2019 she won the international competition Der Yiddisher Idol in Mexico City, and the group has reached wide audiences through, among others, SVT’s Folkets musik and the National Day celebrations at Skansen in 2022. Their fourth album A troym oyf a boym received the Manifest Award for Best Children’s Music in 2023.

A unique musical meeting at Fasching where Cohen’s words take on a new voice and move one step closer to his Jewish roots. A tribute to Leonard Cohen’s life’s work, ten years after his passing.
