Web Web

Munich-based WEB WEB move through floating, psychedelic and spiritual sonic worlds. Jazz not just as a genre but as an attitude and a method, in the band’s own words. Instruments and roles are constantly swapped, with improvisation and exploration as the foundation. This autumn they bring a new chapter in the group’s history to Fasching: an album built entirely around cover versions.

For over a decade, WEB WEB have stood for a fluid jazz that resists categorisation. On the Web Max album series they collaborate with Max Herre. On the new album Kover Kover, they take that freedom a step further. Here we get the answer to an eternal question: what would Black Sabbath’s “Planet Caravan” and Grace Jones’ “Slave to the Rhythm” sound like if they had been written by WEB WEB?

Source material from across the spectrum is fed through WEB WEB’s spiritual jazz prism — Joe Jackson’s 80s classic “Steppin’ Out” reduced to three chords on a Fender Rhodes, with Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana and Eurythmics pulled under the same umbrella.
