Late night gig with Australian beat-master Alexander Flood! When the clock strikes 11 PM and the dust has settled after Nine Sparks Riots’ early concert, Flood takes over Fasching and sets the tone for an evening where dance music meets live jazz.
The sound is steeped in classic dance floor rhythms and bounces freely between nu-jazz, house, broken beat, drum’n’bass and funk. In April 2025, he released his fourth album Artifactual Rhythm on Atjazz Record Company. “Artifactual” roughly translates to “made by human hands” – and that’s exactly what Flood and his band explore: electronic club music reconstructed through un-looped, unedited live recordings.
Joining him are Erica Tucceri (flute), Jake Amy (keyboards) and Dylan Paul (bass). The band has toured Europe, the UK, Australia and New Zealand and played at London Jazz Festival, Wellington Jazz Festival and WOMADelaide. EVL Magazine describes the new album as “a whirlwind of stunning beats coupled with excellent instrumentation and groove to die for”. BeatCaffeine called the previous album Oscillate “a brilliant cosmic jazz recording primed for the dancefloor”.
