Noura Mint Seymali

Few artists carry their tradition with the same force and curiosity as Noura Mint Seymali. Deeply rooted in Mauritania’s griot culture, she transforms ancient musical forms into something physical, electric, and vividly alive.

Together with her partner Jeich Ould Chighaly – on psychedelic electric guitar built from traditional tidinit technique, and a rhythm section with both punch and pulse, she creates a sound entirely her own.
Think Saharan funk. Think ancient minimalism colliding with fuzz pedals. Think trance, ecstasy, and raw energy. Or as PopMatters wrote of her debut album Tzenni: “a tour de force of Moorish musical culture with a fierce, contemporary edge.”

Noura Mint Seymali has performed at Roskilde, the Barbican, and Central Park; collaborated with Damon Albarn, Baaba Maal, and Tinariwen; and in 2025, she receives the WOMEX Artist Award for her life’s work.

Now, she’s FINALLY coming to Fasching, and to Stockholm.
