Tortoise

Tortoise moves like a self-built machine. Since 1990, the Chicago-based collective has stretched the boundaries of instrumental music, threading krautrock, ambient jazz, hand-cranked techno and polyrhythmic funk into something entirely their own.

They’ve been called “a live marvel” by Rolling Stone, while Pitchfork describes them as “a planchette on a Ouija board, everyone sees the direction, no one knows how or why.” Music that seduces as much as it confounds.

Now Tortoise returns to Europe for the first time in nearly a decade, with a rare stop at Fasching. On tour with Touch, their first album since 2016: bold, detailed, and unmistakably theirs.
