The James & Karin Experience

The elks have had enough. The desert foxes are lulled to sleep. The Toothbrush Song is hummed through clenched teeth. James Hollingworth and Karin Liungman’s Barnlåtar from 1974 is one of the absolute cornerstones of Swedish children’s music. Their colourful, playful songs have played on car radios, been sung in preschools and printed in songbook after songbook for over fifty years.

The duo wrote and produced the record themselves, on instruments including guitar, flute, harmonica, nail file and toothbrush. Inventive, childlike songs with a built-in sincerity that has made them timeless.

Karin Liungman passed away in 2018, but the music she and James made lives on. It’s now performed at Fasching under the name The James & Karin Experience – a top-flight jazz band with familiar faces from the concert series Fem Myror – The Jazz Version.
