Robinson Khoury

Trombonist Robinson Khoury stands as one of the most compelling French jazz musicians of his generation. In 2025, he was awarded the prestigious Prix Django Reinhardt for Best Jazz Musician of the Year and received a nomination for the 2025 Victoires du Jazz in the “Best Concert of the Year” category. He has performed alongside Ibrahim Maalouf, Natacha Atlas, Mark Turner, and Lew Soloff, appeared as a soloist with the Metropole Orkest, and was a member of the Quincy Jones Orchestra. His album Broken Lines received a special mention from the Académie Charles Cros.

With his project MŸA, Khoury explores primordial rhythms and sounds through electro-acoustic landscapes shaped by his modular synth. Deeply rooted in both jazz and Middle-Eastern scales, the music centers around the band members’ wordless vocals. It is a project where trombone, percussion, piano, and voices merge into a sound that is simultaneously archaic and visionary. And as Songlines puts it: “When the trombone sings, it really soars”.
