Two distinct voices, one shared stage at Fasching. First up: Liv Andrea Hauge Trio, a young Norwegian piano trio known for melodic clarity, playful energy and growing international acclaim. Then: Building Instrument, a genre-blurring trio that for the past 20 years has crafted their own sonic world. Mixing electronica, folk, improvisation and contemporary art music.
Liv Andrea Hauge Trio
Since their 2022 debut, Liv Andrea Hauge Trio has quickly become one of the most talked-about new names on the Norwegian jazz scene. They’ve performed at Jazzahead, won awards, and earned glowing press, but most importantly, they’ve carved out a sound of their own.
Melodic, responsive and rhythmically alive, the trio is led by pianist Liv Andrea Hauge, with Georgia Wartel Collins on bass and August Glännestrand on drums. Their second album, Ville Blomster, has been praised as “jazz that doesn’t overcomplicate things”, while still feeling entirely fresh.
Lineup
Liv Andrea Hauge – piano
Georgia Wartel Collins – bass
August Glännestrand – drums
Building Instrument
This is music that’s felt more than explained. For over two decades, Building Instrument has moved through the blurred edges of electronica, folk, improvisation and contemporary music. Their latest album, Månen, Armadillo, is both tactile and dreamlike. Music that shifts, expands, and never sits still.
At the center is Mari Kvien Brunvoll’s voice, surrounded by Åsmund Weltzien’s synthscapes, Øyvind Hegg-Lunde’s organic drumming, and Thorolf Thuestad’s finely tuned sound design. This isn’t jazz as a genre, it’s jazz as a way of thinking.
