Joanne Robertson

Joanne Robertson moves between music and painting, two expressions both born from improvisation and the feeling of the moment. She often collaborates with friends, most recently with Dean Blunt on Backstage Raver and with Oliver Coates on her new album Blurrr.

Raised in Manchester, rooted in Blackpool and now based in Glasgow, Robertson has built a sound that moves between folk songwriting tradition and experimental textures. Her new album Blurrr (2025) has been described as somewhere between Grouper, Cat Power and Arthur Russell, recorded while painting and raising a child. Nine tracks where every strum and whispered lyric captures a vulnerable beauty.

Robertson’s music sounds like diary entries without dates, where folksy intimacy meets lo-fi aesthetics and subtle improvisation. A concert where small things take space and become monumental. Part of the concert series LOKKO X FASCHING.
