Homero Alvarez Sep7ett weaves its way through cumbia, baião, samba, maracatu and bossa, but this is far from a nostalgic tribute to Latin American rhythm traditions. It’s a vibrant, playful and deeply responsive ensemble, driven by the freedom of jazz and the pulse of two continents.
Guitarist and composer Homero Alvarez was born in Buenos Aires and moved to Sweden as a child. His background writing for film, theatre and radio is evident in the music – dramatic without being theatrical, emotional without ever losing shape.
The debut album Growing (2022) was praised across the Swedish jazz press. Now they return with Flowing, a vinyl-only release out on Stockholm Jazz Records, 16 December. Glorious.
