Giovanni Hidalgo grew up in a house full of drums, and has since transformed the way the world listens to percussion. From PR All Stars at age nine to collaborations with Batacumbele, Changuito, Dizzy Gillespie and Planet Drum.
He plays with a rhythmic presence that’s both raw and precise, deeply rooted in Afro-Caribbean traditions, and shaped by a singular approach that has made percussionists everywhere rethink what’s possible.
At Fasching, he’s joined by Myles Sloniker on bass and Marcio Garcia on piano, two responsive players fluent in jazz, Latin, fusion, rock and reggae. A trio with explosive precision, deep listening, and rhythm in every direction.
